Life update: I’m moving to Europe. And I’m recording A NEw project. And I need your help!
August 2019: This year has been a big one. I moved home from Nashville last June. I was stuck — burnt out and uncertain; uninspired and too dependent on my music “career” to feed and fill me.
If there’s anything I know for sure, it’s that songs are only as full and rich as the life they are born from. So, I started fresh and began a new chapter with the very conscious intention of exploring new parts of myself.
I got my very first “non-music” job working in a restaurant making close to minimum wage. (I commuted an hour on the subway just to get there and couldn’t believe how alive that made me feel.) I attended a 10-day silent meditation retreat in the woods of Western Massachusetts, started volunteering on a flower farm, studied English at state school for a semester, and reconnected with the places and people that shaped me in a deeper way than I ever thought possible.
And magically...when I started to love my life again in a way that was completely unrelated and unattached to my musical/ creative ambitions, opportunities flowed to me. Inspiration came back.
I had the chance to tour in Europe twice over a span for 4 months. Those two adventures back to back broadened my world in countless, invaluable ways: personally, creatively, spiritually. They served as further confirmation that I was back on my path. Just as I was dreaming of ways to keep the European magic alive, I was offered an opportunity to move to Germany for 6 months as a part of an artist residency program. And because I now know how vital personal growth and new experiences are to my creative process, I of course said yes.
April 2020 marks the beginning of my 6 month European excursion. But before I go, I have made a promise to myself to finish a new recorded project in some way, shape, or form. I have two singles done that will be out in the fall (yay!) and I will continue to record bit by bit as money allows. I don’t take your past support for granted and instead of doing the big, fancy crowdfunding campaign, I’d like to ask for your help in a more modest way. I’m offering an early album/project pre-order with a few incentives to help gather some money in advance of recording. I’m also suggesting that those who might want to support in a bigger way book a house concert which will be part of my last US tour before heading abroad.
The exact length/scope and timeline of the project will depend on funding and be sorted out in the coming months. I will keep all supporters updated via email.
Thank you for believing in me. It has enriched my life in more ways than you could possibly know.
